Any idea how to fix something like this? I accidently scrapped the wall near my garage, while moving in...it doesn't "feel" that bad...I mean, it just feels like brick got transferred to the bumper...it doesn't feel like the paint got chipped off...if u know what I mean..
Would some meguiars scratch X fix something like this?

as far as wet sanding, how does this work? I've heard of it, but never fully understood it...is it hard to do? What products are required?
Dont do anything like that. Wetsanding requires skilled hands, as does the polishing that will follow. A random orbit will not remove the haze w/o an agressive pad, agressive polish and connsumate operator skill. Heres what you do:
Wash it first, then take more pics w/ macro shots. More than likely, scratch X will take out a decent amt of the scratches, but the gashes are there to stay. However, DO NOT put any products on it until it has been thoroughly washed.

So you think scratch x will do a decent job? Theres some on sale at the local Target near my house...I didnt wanna buy it until I get confirmation from the detailing guys....what do ya think?
Body shop. That's if you want it like new. If you can live with some blemishes, then you could try some aggressive polishing.
The general rule on scratches is if you can feel it, it's too deep to polish out. The best you could hope for would be to "clean" it up some and make less noticeable.
I doubt the brick transferred to your paint. I think the paint would transfer to the brick....

That plastic and paint are scratched bigtime. Brick is hard and abrasive. Much harder than that painted plastic.
I would bring it to a detail shop, ask them to use a wool pad and some hi grit compound. Just remind them that bumpers heat faster and edges generally have less paint on them- so be careful not to burn it. This should cost you less than $20, and you may be happy enough with the results not to bring it to a body shop.
The easiest way to tell if something can be 'buffed out' is to drag a fingernail across it. If it catches, odds are against you. By 'buffed out' I mean with a rotary, not the random orbital polishers I see alot of this forum mentioning that they've purchased.

well, i just wanted to update...I bought some scratch x and it didn't really help
at most, it got rid of probably 25% of the whole damage...oh well, I guess I'll leave it like that for now...I should take the consequences

Try some rubbing compound with plenty of water. You can get it at Pep Boys, AutoZone, Advance etc. Next, hit it with regular paste wax. You won't get the deep stuff as mentioned above, but you can minimize the awful look by putting in some elbow grease.
BTW, ScratchX sucks.

You won't ever get all the scratches, pits out. You can only minimize it. Random P is probably not strong enough to accomplish this. You probably need a 1,000-3,000 rpm grinder with a wool pad. The polish you use will depend. I'd just use the wool pad and maybe Mequires #2, followed by a #9 then wax. That will probably get 90% of all the scratches that will come out. Futher work is either not worth it, or should be handled by a pro
