Painting Car Tips
Painting Car Tips
I've searched, and looked through the stickies but did not find any information I needed. I need a new bumper, paint is cracking, and I hit a brick wall that caused a crease in the bumper. I would like to do this myself since it is fairly easy, I hope, and it would be fun to learn something new. There are bumpers on ebay for $80, paint spray guns for ~$30, 1 quart of clear for $25, but I cannot find where to buy paint. The paint code is DP0, Deep Evergreen. I will not be able to do this untill next summer, so I have time to learn. Is there anyone here that has painted on their own who could provide tips, or point me in the right direction? Thanks.
Painting is not as easy as you think. And like all things in life, money dictates a good portion of quality. Its all about the correct preparation. Plus, you are painting a flexible part so you need to also include another chemical that allows the paint to slightly flex when you are complete and its cured otherwise you will be in the same boat again.
Its not easy, but I would look up in google about painting cars and read, read, and read some more.

its not going to be cheap to paint it yourself. and if you have a decent gun use ppg paint its not that hard. ive done it before and its came out great. make sure you paint early in the morning on a clear day. go to a local paint store but just to warn you my piant was about 200 dollars a gallon plus clear plus a catalyst. plus you are going to want to prime and sand it.
paint is hard to do
even if you do have the exact same color, thru the years the wear of your color has given the paint a diff shade. so itll be pretty bad when your new paint looks so bright it makes the rest of the car not match.
in other news the paint off the driver side door is coming/chipping/wearing off the car. its black and i can see a tint of red underneath.. wuts going on and wut r my solutions?
