I have some nice new carpet remnants which are too small to be of any use. And my 95 maxima does not have factory floor mats, I am using some after market ones which does not cover fully.

I am just wondering if its a worthwhile to make floor mats out of the remnants?

It is not worthwhile. I tried it once before and because there wasn't a non-skid rubber backing like OEM mats it was impossible to keep them in place. They slid all over the place.
