which is better; Meguiar's Scratch X, or Mothers plastic polish?

That all depends on how you're applying it, what you're using it on & what types of results you're looking for. Mothers Plastic polish sounds like a completely different polish than ScratchX. Give us some more details on what you're trying to do.

I used Meguires PlastX, not Scratch X and got pretty good results. Try and use some mad elbow grease or if you have a buffer, have a go at it with that.

+1

Scratch X is really meant for your paint, and will leage some residue/streaks on plastic. PlastX is definatly the way to go, and if your situation is a little more severe, try wetsanding with a fine-fine grit paper and go to Meguiars #17 and #10 in the Detailer line (or just use PlastX if you can't find it in stores/dont want to order).

I have both the Meguiars and Mothers Plastic Cleaner/Polish in my automotive cleaning supplies closet...I prefer the Mothers using a microfiber towel and some elbow grease on my 01 headlights... I usually do this cleaner/polish treatment once a month and then I also hit the gauge cluster plastic to keep it looking new....
