dont use dish soap, it does more harm than good

use regular car wash, then when you clay it, that will strip the wax

but with the other stuff, your not going to notice an amazing differnce, when it comes to the perfect finish it costs $$

if i were you, i would wash clay, scratch x where you want to, then use a cleaner wax

just today i detailed a 2000 black silverado in aweful shape, had to use 2 different products just to get the gloss back to the paint

the only thing i can think of that you'll find in stores is Mothers California Gold Original Formula Carnauba Cleaner Wax, IIRC i've seen a Zymol cleaner wax at autozone recently, light blue bottle i think

you can layer waxes as much as you want, but give them enough time to set between coats (i usually wait 24 hours on my personal vehicle)

and that color crap doesn't do a thing, its a cheep gimmick

It takes a lot of time and money to get the perfect shine. I have 9-steps total in my entire process to get any car I detail perfect.

Don't wash it with dish soap. That will strip vital chemicals from your paints finish. You're going to want to wash it with a car wash soap from Meguiars or something similar. Then go ahead with the claying, and finish with scratchx (scratchx works way more amazing if you can get yours hands on a rotary buffer). Then wash it once more, and go ahead on the COLORx, if you really want to. Personally, I'd just finish off with a carnauba wax.

if your gonna use a rotary or DA polisher i would use something better than scratch x, like meg's #9, or my personal choice Optimum Polish, or even Poli-Seal

scratch x is really only good for small things, not a whole car
