Was cleaning the car today and noticed these spots on my wheels.




These just showed up cause they weren't there last week. I think they're maybe water spots??

I always use a mit w/ meguirs gold to clean the car and the wheels. I tried using soap and water to remove them but it's not working.

Any idea's? Some type of chrome cleaner/polish?

 

Definitely use chrome polish and make sure that it is chrome/clear-coat safe. If that does not work, then use some steel wool that is equivalent in strength of the window cleaning one too.

You think the polish alone will take care of this? Has to be water stains...I'm meticulous about what comes in contact w/ these wheels

 

The polish definitely should, but if you are thinking that the steel wool is going to be too abrasive then you are definitely wrong because I thought the same exact thing when they told me to use it on chrome Hummer grills, mirrors, side-rails and all of the other chrome on these truck, but to my astonishment, when I used it, it made the **** look brand new again!

You DO NOT want to use it dry because it will be like using a fine sandpaper! lol

You can either use window cleaner or the polish, but like I said before, just make sure the polish is chrome/clear-coat safe.

 

Steel wool is just another abrasive. It comes in different grades, use the "0000" (finest) for this type of work. Like any polishes that have different formulations, start with the finer and if you need more aggressive, then go up one step at a time. Carefully and with lubrication.

Is there any particular chrome polish you guys prefer? I'll be sure to get one thats specifically made for chrome and won't scratch
