chrome trim

how in the world do i restore the trim that runs from the windshield to the top of the back glass on the roof of my 07 max? the trim on the back glass area itself is fine but the rest is very tarnished. i noticed if i buff them with wax it works but it takes a ton of elbow grease. is there an easier way?

Depending on your dealership, I had mine replaced on my 08. My dealership stated these are covered under 3 yr / 36,000 mile FACTORY warranty. Worth a shot.

I don't think there is a way to restore them really. Most people black out the trim because of the fading/tarnishing problem.

Any pictures? There is a way, but its pretty stupid. Just get it painted chrome. You will be surprised how many people can make it look like real chrome. Or you can get a new one, or if you dont have the money, just paint it.

The chrome roof trims are covered under the bumper to bumper warranty. I just had mine changed a few weeks ago. They are $97 each! If you do get the dealership to change them, make sure they are careful around the windshield area when installing the trim. A week after I had mine replaced, my windshield cracked from the stress during installation.

Not sure how long this will last but this took me all of 10 minutes with my porter cable ROB and some Adams swirl & Haze remover.
