I hear you and I will continue to wax my car but he stands by what he says. Maybe one day his paint will just fade away!

Your friend is sadly misinformed. With most modern all-in-one (AIO) products, there is almost no aggressive abrasive. Many, such as Duragloss, contain only a mild chemical cleaner. I'm not sure how this misinformation campaign got started, but it's making a lot of money for body shops when people bring in their cars with clear coat peeling off in chunks.

Wow - lots of stuff I've never even heard of, or seen!

I think the best thing to do is buy a reputable product, and stick with it if it gives you good results. Too subjective a subject to have one right answer.

Personally - i use Meguiar's pro products, and have good results.
I REALLY like the NXT 2.0 WAX (yes, wax!).
Call it a sealant, call it a polish, polymer, wax - whatever you want -- that stuff is awesome to me....coming from Carnuba wax.

I'm sure Zaino or other polymer sealers are just as good, if not better -- but I like Meguiars.
My car is 8 years old, and BLACK. and aside from the chips, scrapes, dings, and everything else that comes from 8 yrs of ownership, it looks DAMN good for it's age.

Choose products you can afford, and are readily available -- take care of your car, and you can't go wrong!

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax is a polymer wax, it should be the FIRST wax you put on an unwaxed or freshly clayed/polished car (some actually call it a sealant because of the polymer bonds). It actually lasts much LONGER than gold class wax, more as a protectant than a shine though. It may look and even feel like the wax isn't there, but spray some water on her and watch it bead up.

Gold Class wax (a carnuba wax) should follow the NXT wax. It will give it more of a shine, a deeper shine, but won't last quite as long as a protectant. NXT should be applied probably twice a year, and Gold class should be applied monthly.
Ooopsy! I must have been very concentrated on something else at that time, I sincerely apologize. You would apply sealant first (for longetivity) then wax to give it a better look. The only thing I was trying to get across was that NXT 2.0 (while clearly marketed as a wax) is a sealant which should get a good 2 solid months (depending on conditions of course I have seen and heard upwards of 4 months) of protection while a carnuba wax will give you maybe give you 2 to 3 weeks of protection (again depending on the conditions). Where I am going with this is to show the people, that are starting to lean towards the more advanced portion of detaling, that if one was to look at a shelf at Wal-Mart and see Meguiars Gold Class Wax (or any wax for that matter) and Meguiars NXT 2.0 and if you are planning on a good coat of protection that will last you throughout the winter or for long periods of time then a sealant is your best and only option. It may seem that I am rambling about cymantics but I am only trying to look out for my fellow Max owners and to help them keep their car protected.

Mine too. Give the Autoglym SRP a try. Awesome on black. Top it with your NXT 2.0 and I bet you a buck you'll be silly happy with the results.

I sometimes go nuts and put SRP on, topped with one of my favorite glazes (Danse wet glaze) then finish with my wax. Comes out awesome.

So I got my Maxima on March 15th, and washed it most recently on this past Wednesday. I used my California duster and spray detailer, and it felt ok. Then I applied a coat of Meguiar's Stage 3 Deep Crystal liquid wax ... night and DAY! So much smoother now. The factory wax/clear coat was pretty smooth, but nothing compared to this!

I couldn't be happier about it! The only trouble spots are on the front bumper, with all the nooks and crannies to wax.

They are meant for two different things. Red is for lighter colours and Blue is for darker colours. You can still get the Red though.

Aye. I guess I'll pass it over then as the blue does a smashing job on my car already.

clay gives you a night and day difference, and lasts forever. invest in a clay bar or two.

As for wax, I just use whatever high end pure carnauba I can find.

Zaino !

Zaino after a full strip down and clay. After that its some final coats of "Worlds Best Wax" ha ha ha But it is 47% Carnuba which does give the car a really deep finish.

After detailing cars for 6 years professionally I would agree with all of the above suggestions. It really depends on your car and pockets. You can go to a professional and pay $600 for detail but it can’t remove years of neglect. Keep your cars as clean as possible with minimal effort and minimal cost routinely for best results. Also pay special attention to the tires, wheels and wheel wells. This really helps bring out the shine on contrast. Also use a good tire dressing and clean your windows. Good luck.

PS I have already waxed both Maximas using Meguairs cleaner wax and they look great. Pics coming asap.

Did the Maxima yesterday with Zaino AIO. Came out nice. Will top it with NXT next week.

Use Z5 and Z2 on the Corvette and Meguiar #21 sealant on the MB.

Mequiar's -- Again.

Just did my spring Full Exterior Detail yesterday....

I've fallen in-love with Meguiar's products all-over again!

Cannot say enuff about 2.0 Tech Wax.
Just awesome stuff.
I was prepared to go-over my entire car with Dual-Action Compound and cutting pad...and I didn't even NEED to.
Barely even needed to clay-bar, except for around the tail-pipe on the bumper (don't get me started).
It's been a SOLID 6 months (winter) since my car got a coat of "wax"....but it held-up amazingly.

Also, I REALLy REALLy Love the Speed Glaze (forget which number) again.
I was using it wrong all this time....

You have to be careful how much you use and how you "work" the meguiar's products, but once you find the happy medium for arm speed, pressure, and how long you work it on the paint surface....you can REALLy achieve fantastic results!

I love my car again....you dirty-dirty b!tch.

now for the INTERIOR.

No kiddin. I'll have to score some 2.0 to see what all the fuss is about. I tried the previous gen wax but wasn't insanely impressed. Sounds like some improvements have been made.

And by expensive, how much are you guys finding it for?

And I gussied up my car this weekend with some Autoglym SRP followed by some Danase wet glaze topped with some Clearkote Carnauba Moose and it looks smokin. Well, did till pollen, dust and bird turds lit it up. *****.

If you can wait a few days, purchase it through amazon or ebay... much less expensive than brick-and-mortar.

Hit Target/Wal-Mart on one of their automotive sale days for like $10. That's usually what I do when I make a trip down to the states. Here it is at least $25-$30.

Tech Wax on Wheels

Has anyone tried using the Tech Wax on your rims? I did that this weekend for my 17" SE rims, and on my wife's 17" aluminum rims for her Honda CR-V. (Which, BTW, are truly attractive wheels, considering how mundane the ride is.)

Anyway, to my point: Wow! They look fantastic!

For years, I've been using Wheel Wax, so it remains to be seen how well the Tech Wax holds up to time and brake dust. But for first impressions, it was pretty awesome.

+1 on Tech wax 2.0 then Gold Class Carnuba for a DEEP DEEP shine. I also agree with 303 Aerospace Protectant. Wipe on plastics, rubbers and vinyls and they'll look brand new and stay that way for a long time.
