Auto Vi

does the VI work well on an auto? so if you had a ypipe/bpipe set up and then you added the Vi, how many hp/tq would your dyno go up? I'm looking at the car being in drive, no manual shifting. Im guessing auto does better manual shifting(able to get higher red line, more VI power).

Yes, has been disputed to work better than on a 5MT due to longer gears, hence being in the 'sweet spot' (5-7+k) longer.

It's not peak that matters, but merely area under the curve, and the VI would make your curve .. much much longer .. Stock IM drops off ~ 20-30whp from 5200(pk power) - 6500, that's bad and even worse for an auto. Peak #'s aren't that impressive nor important, unless you're a dyno Queen like me but peak w/ VI maybe 5-8 added hp . But it's the gains after 5.5k that are really appreciated, I've seen many auto and manual dynos gaining ~40 Whp @ 6500, and even more if you decide to extend the rev limit .. A MUST with any VI application, that is if you want to take full advantage, and why not ..

In order to gain the most from it you should get a ECU with raised rev.

but i dont think you would need to manual shift the auto to take advantage of the VI.

i dont believe or hope anything thinks its difficult but it would be nice if we could reprogram the tcm. i am currently having to readjust to my manual shifting because the power valve is removed and fuel was trimmed after 4k because it running between 11:1 and 12:1 a/f. the redline comes on alot quicker now.
