Low numbers for 1997 GXE
Low numbers for 1997 GXE
Well I have suspected that my car was not making the power it should be for a while now. The first time was when I went to the track and made a 14.60 @94.90 mph. Most people after the 00VI swap trapped around 97 mph or higher (I'm talking about 5sp). At first I thought it just might be my clutch sucking a$$ but not by these numbers 169.7 hp and 186.9 tq. It seems that my VIAS is not working properly because it almost looks like a USIM dyno. I've checked to make sure the cup was still turning at least 10 times the past couple of months and it does. I know I am still running rich but I'll fix that later. Mods: y-pipe, intake, 00VI, VAFC-2 (need to do more tuning), and Underdrive Pulley.
Looking at the HP curve I'd say your VIAS is activating, but you're right the numbers seem awfully low.
Done a compression check lately? Any KS codes? That'd be the first 2 things I'd check..
What size/weight of wheels do you have? That could influence it too...

Yes but the drop off is still very little compared to the USIM. You don't have an ECU do you? The dropoff in power up high (compared to some other VI dyno's such as mine) could be due to several things, such as not having enough timing (aftermarket ECU vs stock), not enough airflow (intake and/or VI config etc).
I'd still check compression though. And you're a 5-spd right?

After taking off the manifold I found that the cup was loose enough to where it just barely turned the power valve. So now I have to figure out how to fix it since I already jb welded it once, any suggestions?

He printed them out so i will just type them up in excel and send them to you. What i did was drill a bigger hole in the cup so it would sit down further this way the jb weld had more contact with the bolt. I took some pics don't know if they turned out but I will post pics if anybody wants to know what I did.
