SSIM vs. Block off Plate comparison
#81
Not at all, just to get the results you want you usually have to DIY. I like sharing different view point as much as anyone. I may have misinterpreted some of your posts but it sounds as if the test conditions others shared weren't to your liking so I simply suggested try it for yourself thats all.

Gotcha. It wouldn't really be worth it for me to try this since I'm in the process of trying to sell my '02 for an '01. My modding path is going to be a little different than the norm and there'd be zero overlap. I'm hoping an adventurous soul will try this so we can finally put it to rest.

I just ran 99.93mph on a 2.08 60' with my ssim, 7100rpm limiter and z33 vtcs and 94 degree heat. That's considerably better than I ever did with a stock manifold in the same mods and same condition

Two questions: At what point in your modding progression did you install the f-spec ECU? Did you ever run with a block-off plate installed?
#86
I never ran with a block off plate but I ran a number of times after the f-spec and before the ssim. Those are the two newest mods of mine. I think the z33 vtc map is the most important thing for an ssim

Well the SSIM has proven to be an upgrade vs. a functioning VIAS. We really need to see how it compares head-to-head with a VIAS delete/block-off plate. That's the reason behind this thread.

here are you located I'll let you hold my intake with a block off to see the difference

Yeah I figured that. Wish it could be that easy. If this conversation is still around at the beginning of the next racing season I'll try to get something together. I have a feeling it will be solved before then though

We have an idea and we know for a fact is kinda different here... shouldnt be a hard switch at the track neither... that way you have the same track, weather, preps and vehicle, but then again it wont be the exact same run... dyno would be the best comparison cause it would be hard to imitate the previous run...

Even a simulated 1/4 mile run on a dyno would be more telling IMO. BTW this type of dyno comparison has already been done by someone at nicoclub. The results were similar. This is no fluke.
