03 Maxima Dyno Sheet & Write up! Check it out!

Hey guys, I've told alot of people i would be posting this for everyone to get an idea what certain mods might do to your vehicle..

Car was Dyno'd @ Power Fab Automotive in Houston, TX

Unfortunately i never dyno'd in BONE stock, but i tend to say the vehicle is "stock"

Specs: 03 Nissan Maxima 4AT 74k (original engine/miles)

First run made 183whp w/:
1. Injen CAI
2. Stillen Ground Kit
3. Tsudo 2.5" Exhaust

Second Run made 193whp w/ only 1 additional part:
4. Megan Test Pipe

Cons about Megan Test pipe:

It DID NOT line up right. Test pipe was too long and needed
to be cut are Rewelded, Thanks to the boys @ Power Fab It was
taken care of!

If you can see close enough on the 193whp run, at about 5,500rpm it started gaining a bit horsepower until around 6200rpm it gained almost 16whp towards the top end w/ ONLY a Megan Test Pipe.

DYNO SHEET TIME!!!

*** This is my GFs Grocery Getter/Weekend Warriror/Daily Driver! Props goes out to her for understanding and Joining my Passion for Cars! Great support from her and i don't know how i would get through all my builds w/o her!***

I suspect you ran the firs run in 2nd gear? Also, was your VIAS active for the first run?

Typically, it's good to round out the error between runs and have at least 2 runs of each scenario.

2nd gear vs 3rd gear will do exactly what you showed here without any modifications whatsoever (higher RPM HP/lower torque in 2nd, lower high RPM HP, higher torque), with that said, this is not a good direct comparison.

Also, do you have any SAE #'s?

there was a test pipe on ebay that "Mr.Brett" used and i believe that was a direct fit.. I'll look more into it when i'm ready

but your 1st run dyno seems a little low.. i put down 189whp stock and i thought that was a little low.. then 2nd run i put down 194whp with a block off plate. have you considered getting that? pretty cheap mod for the gains

there would be no point to compare the two if the variables were different...however its good to ask since you never want to just assume

not sure if second run was 2nd or 3rd.

but my guess is the second run was in second gear because there was another guy dynoing the car and seemed to have 2 problems on the dyno, till he finally got a decent pull.

i ran 14.9 @ 94mph w/ intake & BOP w/ 2.3 60'

then 14.8 @ 94mph w/ intake/headers/exhaust/BOP w/ 2.3-2.4 60' (car was untuned and spinning badly) not really sure why my mph was so low though

we can't really compare track times due to different variables and same goes with dyno numbers unless its the same dyno that both cars used the same day.. but your dyno numbers seem a little lower than what others have posted around

Yea, thats what i told my GF but i didn't get discouraged because of the Track Times..

did you launch your car at a certain RPM?? If so how high? and what tire pressures were you running??

I just left that place! When I get another tranny and axles in the car, we need to line em up @ baytown!!! It should be a nice fun match!

i think i tried a couple different RPM's and i think one of the best ones were not launching it lmao.. tire pressure went as low as 25psi because my 60' didn't seem to get any better so i stopped there

ya bro, thats the best if you don't have drag radials.. Not launch at all!

Can we confirm what gear each run was done in so we can decide if these comparisons are valid? If one was done in 2nd, and the other in 3rd, this comparison means nothing.

However, I'm a firm believer that removing the main cat does free up some power. I've had good results with removing mine using very crude "street" testing and "butt dyno' runs. lol. I know that means nothing as far as data aquisition goes. But, my 2 cents still bring us that much closer to $1 anyways.

one thing i know for sure, is that i've never changed the spark plugs on this car.. That might be the issue on why numbers look low?? what do you guys think? also, what Plugs would you guys recommend?
