Well I must say I am very happy with the results. Hard work paid off!

Each run I will show is the best of 3 runs with each setup.

Exact power mod list from filter to exhaust then electronics:
Vias delete stock IM (later home-made IM)
3" intake and stock MAF (later LRMAF and 3.5" intake)
NWP IM spacers
Cattman V3 Headers/Y-pipe
Cattman 3" catback with extra resonator
UTEC with Tuner to 7000RPM redline

Two notes before I get into the meat of things.

1. The stock MAF/stock IM tune on my UTEC is a thing of beauty... over a year in the making with absolutely perfect AF doing a flat 13.5 from 3000-4000, then settling to 12.8-13.0 until redline. The 3.5" dynos are all done with a quick and dirty tune that ranges anywhere from 11.9 to 12.7 that could probably see several HP gains if I'd had time to sit down and tune it properly. Alas, I did not.

2. I ran on my 18" street wheels/tires and power steering was connected. I am rather convinced that my lightweight track wheels and DRs alone would gain 8-10whp, and anywhere from 3-8whp from power steering. This car may dyno queen up 300whp SAE after cam install

Before all the testing and results, here are the final numbers. SAE, this is 280whp 258wtq. Went with STD because it follows the 275whp line on the graph so beautifully.

First test:

Stock IM with vias delete, stock MAF, 3" intake vs Stock IM with vias delete, LRMAF, 3.5" intake.

It still gains power, all over the RPM range, even with a inferior tune. Take that, naysayers.

~So the 8.2@85 in my sig was done with 265whp and major power dropoff above 6000....

Second test:

Stock IM with vias delete, stock MAF, 3" intake vs "s"SSIM, LRMAF, 3.5" intake

Looks like with a proper tune, this new IM will lose no power ANYWHERE in the powerband vs the stock one!

18whp peak gains and 50whp at 7000 RPMs!

Closer view on SAE smoothing 5 of the top end gains.

Next test:

Super short intake (TB>MAF>FILTER) vs "length tuned" intake (TB>MAF>PIPE>FILTER) that was tuned for acoustic resonance at around 6000 rpms.

So... super short SRIs are not the best way to go! This intake was 31" in length, giving a resonant frequency around 100hz (6000RPMs). It's obviously the better way to go.

First run on the dyno vs last run on the dyno

50whp gains at 7000RPMs... 20whp peak gains. All from 3.5" intake/LRMAF and custom intake manifold!

And last but not least... Video! I must admit, this thing sounds beautiful. All the people from the neighboring body shop were trickling over to check it out and I was asked at least once if it was turbocharged.

One more note... The smoke at the end of most runs is due to a TIMING cut rev limiter from the N2MB WOT box. It's still dumping fuel in.

ive got some things to do... im drawing up the gameplan on a drawing board... good number man... i love... time to revisit the LR intake and MAF, ill also be creating my own intake but i want to experiment a lil also... i know you compare JP's numbers but remember he doesnt have the LR maf or a bigger intake.... however this is still very impressive

It's on a different dyno as well. Hard to compare and it actually mean anything.

Wild guess is the gains would be more than I got. The same resources that told me to go big on the plenum were saying to go even bigger on FI plenums. This thing is about 270CCs... lol

Great numbers. Glad all your work paid off in the end. Your findings with the SSI vs tuned intake are very insightful. In the video whats that noise at the 1:44 to 1:46 mark?

I owned a Kinetix and I can tell you this for sure. I would need 2+ hours of dyno time to compare it to a kinetix because the POS kinetix doesn't even remotely port match to the LIM (round vs oval), so you need a custom ported LIM and NWP spacer. Then, the Kinetix is just a much smaller plenum, smaller elbow version of what I've made. I sold it because I didn't like it.

Are suggesting that instead of what I built myself, I should have spent literally 20 times more money on ITBs?

Maybe next weekend for some pre-cams times. Not 100% though.

No, he's giving you props that you actually did some awsome homework, executed the idea, and got positive results. Nothing but love from him there sparks. Dont take it the wrong way.

Ah I see... I saw him say emerald performance, then do your homework before spending and thought he was telling me to buy ITBs instead lol.

I retract my retort, then. Thanks!

Yea, he's a good guy who's filled with knowledge and always there to give answers and advice to any questions you may have. Speaking of ITBs, a heads up comparison would be awsome between them and your IM. If you ever wanna set that up, contact him and see what you guys can do about it. It would be interesting to say the least.

Also, did you notice a difference in manifold pressure between the 2 manifolds?

wasn't datalogging map pressure, but I do still get full vacuum as normal at idle and low throttle.

I'm aiming to do really well, but something tells me jaypee will keep himself a step ahead if I start to catch up. He was saying something about headwork before imp vs dom.
