How often do you change your oil and filter if you use Mobil 1 Synthetic or any other synthetic. I have a friend who wants to know how long he can go before an oil change before it puts pressure or strain on the engine. He has a 2003 SE Auto with Titanium Package.
Ah, we have a section for this. Don't listen to anyone's advice w/o evidence to back up their statements.
go here. read it, know it, love it, marry it, have kids with it...

I use Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter. I change my oil every 3000 miles. It takes me about 6 months to drive that far and for the price I just think it's cheap insurance.

I've run both Amsoil and Mobil 1 for 8k under severe conditions with excellent reports. I wouldn't want to run the M1 any longer, but would be comfortable running Amsoil longer.Originally posted by [maxi-overdose]

Here is an interesting oil study I found posted somewhere. They are doing Mobil 1 now, and others later, having the oil analyzed and seeing how long it will actually last.

VQ "break-in":
Castrol GTX:
Use/change at 500 miles, 1k, 4k, 7k
At 10k, go with a synthetic.
At least use the OEM 15208-9E000 oil filter at each oil change. DO NOT use that garbage 16208-65F00 OEM filter Nissan is trying to push on all VQ35 owners.

Good study, the 12k results just came in. Amsoil's up next on their list, I can't wait to see those results.Originally posted by Murf300

3000miles for me, highway or city.
I know according to the study I could go more, but I'd rather not. I run my cars very hard, esp the mustang. When you begin to put rather expensive modifications into the engine, I prefer to be on the safe side of things (not talking about the maxima so much here).

is it more important to change oil based on mileage or months past? i've always changed about every 3000 miles, but that often comes later than 3 months.
