Switching back and forth....
Switching back and forth....
I first want to say that I don't know dirt about oil..(or cars for that matter)..
But I've been using M1 synthetic since around 8-9000miles..because I was told that they are better...(and why is that may I ask??)
Anyway....I go to Nissan for regular maintance after the change and told them NOT to change the oil...and they did. I change back to M1 1000klicks later. Nothing happened until yesterday, I took the car for maintence and even told to do so...and DING! DING! DING! They drain my 2 week old, more expenisve than regular, M1 tri-synthetic down the drain....!
I was SOOOOO not impressed..
So, the question is...is changing the oil back and forth really bad for the engine?? Cause I don't want to change back to M1 and risking it.
Thank!

No, it's not a big issue.
More importantly:
Please use the 15208-9E000 OEM oil filter. DO NOT let Nissan put the 16208-65F00 OEM filter on there. Both are for VQ engines, but the 65F00 filter has Fram-esque cardboard end caps and should be avoided.
Also, if you are under 10k, using dino oil will help the VQ break in better and faster.

Nissan dealers do not sell the 65F01 filter, so we can't cut one open and definitely verify the speculation. They will simply use the 65F00 unless you tell them otherwise.
