Fuel additives?

I'm doing a tune up in a few days and I was wondering if I should use some fuel system or fuel injector cleaner while I'm at it. Any suggestions, or would I just be wasting time with it?

Redline Oil Corp. make a good Total Fuel System Cleaner (available at Pep Boys). I use it 2 twice a year. If you change oil frequently, 3000-4000 miles, that is also a good time to add it.

The other is Chevron's Techron product.

Do you put the whole bottle of the Redline Cleaner in? Or do you use the increments on the side of the bottle?

When you start using it, put the whole bottle in the tank. After doing that, you can put in 2-3 oz. at every fillup.

Here a link about Redline fuel system cleaner.

Hope this helps.

I bought the Chevron Techron Fuel System cleaner a week ago and I put it in a nearly empty tank. The bottle said it'll treat up to 12 gallons, so I filled up the tank with 7 gallons (3-4 gallons left in tank from before) so I had about 10 gallons in the tank and the car was POWERFUL with the regular 87 octane gas! It would go like crazy with the push of the gas pedal! It said every 3,000 miles so I didn't put more in, but after I put in some premium Amoco gas (1st fillup 5 days ago) and premium Citgo gas (2nd fillup 2 days ago), the car isn't moving that fast...

I'm going to get the Redline stuff tomorrow when I go buy a case of oil and an oil filter for my oil change. I probably won't be able to put it in until Friday/Saturday since my tank is more than half full right now. I'll see how that performs since it says I can use it at every fillup

BG44k is the absolute best. It's available at just about any car dealership and some high performance shops. It's usually over $20 a can, but it is awesome. Don't forget to clean the throttle body.

Just put in the RedLine stuff ($4.50 at Pep Boys) and the new premium Shell gas and the car is running great! I need to clean the throttle body soon and change the spark plugs to NGK (I think the dealer put in cheap ones when I bought the car). Also, I just found out that my Low Fuel light works =) It comes on with about 1.5 gallons of fuel left.

Last week I put in that RedLine stuff and I switched over to Shell gas and my MPG went from 16-17 to 18 I still need to clean my TB and do a tune up so that should improve it a little bit more The tires are 35 PSI all around, but my suspension is bad so that should improve the miles once I fix that.

I'm going to try the BG44k later on. Still need to find who has it the cheapest around here.
