Engine Swap related fluid questions

Does a new engine going into the car (42k on the engine) need to be "primed" in any way. Do I need to make sure the block is full of coolant before starting it, or will the system fill itself?

I'm planning on treating this as a new engine. I'm going to use cheep dino oil and a cheep filter for like 20 miles, then use more dino and a nissan filter for about 500 before going back to Amsoil. I have no idea about the oil used in the motor until now. However, it came with a Nissan filter, so I assume the owner had Nissan do the maintenance, and therefor got whatever oil the dealer uses (?).

Make sense?

[EDIT]
Just realized I wrote 'dyno oil' and not 'dino oil'. WTF would dyno oil be?

Makes perfect sense. Good call on the dino oil. As for the coolant. When the engine is back in, fill up the coolant and make sure to unscrew any bolts that help get rid of air bubbles in the system. Should be in the manual or use the chilton's online

Are you refering to the drain bolts in the block? Should I fill the intake tube (from the radiator to water pump) with coolant when the engine's put in so the coolant gets to the pump. I would think starting the car with no coolant around the pump may not be good for it...

I'm sure it is. However, I just started thinking of this at work...I'll read up when I get home.

Hm, never heard anyone reference an 'air bleeder port' for 4th gens. I'll have to look into it. Thanks.

If I can't figure it out, I'm sure removing a temperature sensor would provide the same thing.

Per Daniel B. Martin (searched a couple of years back) there is no air bleeder screw on the VQ engines.
