especially in winter if you live in a sub-freezing temperatures, change the oil every 3k miles. Below 32F temp creates condensation inside the engine when it cools off after stopping. Water corrupts engine oil. Please promise you will change oil every 3000 miles.

I mix about 25% Mobil 1 into regular dino oil and leave it in for about 4000 miles in the non-freezing months.

I would change the oem oil filter at 4-5K miles or 3-4 months and top the oil. So around Thanksgiving or before it gets too cold, change the filter. Change the oil and 2nd filter in March on a warmer day.

This would be a good used oil analysis (spreadsheet) for an extended drain test on the Mobil 1 0w-30.

Give up Bill, there are like a billion threads as to WHY you DONT have to change every 3K...but aparently we are witnessing the second coming of the Jiffy Lube people.

You know, just do it because we said so...not because you can research and learn.

Remember to change your tires when they are only 1/2 worn out also!
