Change Transmission Fluid

Hey guys,

Does any one have a link on how to change the Transmission Fluid on an auto transmission. I'd checked the "How To" section but all they had was on the 5 speed not auto. Is it done the same??

let car warm up, then let it cool some so you dont burn yourself, start unbolting the tranny pan so that the fluid seeps out, then remove the pan more so that it drains more and more until you can take the pan all the way off, remove/replace tranny filter, bolt pan back on with new pan gasket (use proper torque sequence and spec). fill the required ammount of fluid through dipstick tube, start the car and let it warm up while keep checking on fluid level using dipstick and add more if needed.

I forgot I think theres a drain plug on the pan so you dont have to remove the pan to drain fluid unless you want to change the filter

this is the way i understand the one in the sticky.

1.drain the ATF through the drain plug
2. disconnect transmission cooler return line and pump all the fluid thats left by starting the car adn running through the gears.
3.by the time that you have drained as much fluid as possible, unbolt the bolts holding the pan (not like what nismo said or else youll have ATF all over your face.)
4.clean the magnets and the filter/screen
5. put the pan back in and bolt 'em up
6.put TC return line back to the TC,put the drain plug back
7. fill with ATF from the dipstick hole.

this is what i would do if im going to do mine.i havent really done it and actually thinking about doing it but was recommended to just bring it to jiffy lube for $90. i need to know tho if they will actually drop the pan and clean whatevers in there.

With the car running and you shifting your transmission with little to no fluid, I would think it will cause some damage or wear.

i just verified with jiffy lube and i was told that they dont drop the pan for the $90 charge.they just pump it out and refill it.now i made my decision,im gonna do it myself and drop the pan.
