Redline MT90

Redline MT90
Just filled up my 2000 SE 5-spd with almost 5 quarts of redline MT-90 tranny fluid. Love it in the cooler weather but when crusiing in 4th gear...it often pops out of gear...3rd does the same, just not as often. No problems with 1, 2 or 5. Anyone else have this experience or know what might be causing it?

when you shift, make sure the gears are in all the way before you let go of the clutch. Sometimes, when I shift, it feels like it's in but it's not and pops out. Sometimes, it takes two clicks for my gears to go in place.

I'd put money on the fact you used the wrong location to drain the transmission. It's actually very easy to do, ask me how I figured it out the first time! The correct location is a 12mm bolt located right next to the crossmember. The wrench would have been completely perpendicular to the ground if you used this one.
My thought is you drained the transmission from the hole that holds that 3rd and 4th gear detent ball. There's a small ball and spring that pops into a notch on the shaft when 3rd or 4th gear is engaged. This is part of why you feel the "snick" as you slide into those gears. When you opened the bolt hole, the ball probably fell out as the gear oil drained. If you look in your drain pan, you'll probably find them. Just pop them back in and you'll be good to go.

You nailed it... now i just have to find that stupid ball in the b ottom of a 5 gallon pail of oil! I saw the spring come out but never saw the ball...when reassembling...ball goes in first...then spring...then hex bolt??? or spring, ball, bolt? Thanks a ton!
