5W-30 or 10W-30 ??

Lets put this to rest...

I have been using 10W-30 ever since I bought my car...I live in NJ kinda cold mornings but nothing to to bad...

Its starting to get cold again and I was wondering if i should change to 5W-30 for the winter or stay at 10W ??

I want my car to be safe for those morning startups...

BTW: I am talking about Fully synthetic Mobil One Oil

Here in Cali, I use 5-40 valvoline pure synthetic. If I could find, 0-40, then it would be better cause mornings are not that cold. No snow at all.

matty,

Mobil 1 10w-30 is fine down to 0 F or more. Mobil 5w-30 would be preferable for the winter but not absolutely critical. The 5w-30 would give you easier startups and perhaps slightly better fuel economy.

I use Castrol Synthetic blend 5w-30 in the winter (10w-30 in the summer). I am in NE Colorado and it gets pretty cold here.

Either is safe to use. The 5W-30 is still the best choice though.
