Conflicting reccomendations for VQ oil change interval

I read through 2 stickys, and there seems to be 2 conflicting recommendations for oil change intervals. On the VQ break in thread, it states that you can use synthetic after 10K miles then change @ regular intervals (3750 miles?). However on another sticky, it states that you could possible run the car 10K miles between oil changes while on synthetic. Would it defeat the purpose of using synthetic oil if you are going to change the oil during the regular intervals anyways?

Obviously, running 1/4 miles once or twice a month would affect the oil change interval also, but by how much?

I think you answered your own question.

If you run synthetic...wait until 10k once the engine is broken in then change every 5k to 10k (your choice do an oil analysis to see how far you can safely go).

I think it should be "If you ARE NOT running synthetic...wait until 10k once the engine is broken......"

I waited till 15k miles before I changed to synthetic. I use Amsoil 5W-30 from talkinghorse.
