Blackstone tranny oil report back
Got my manual transmission oil report back today. Everything looks OK inside according to Blackstone.
The individual values if anyone is interested:
Can anyone shed any light on potential reasons why my insolubles are so high?
General Comments?
"ERIC: Wear looks great and shows no problems, and if it weren't for the insolubles, we would have said that the oil didn't need to be changed at all. But insolubles read twice limits, from normal oxidation of the oil, so it's probably good that you changed it out. We didn't find anything that would indicate this transmission has a problem. If you wanted to pull a sample (without changing the oil) after 25,000 miles to ensure insolubles are still low, you could."
Can anyone shed any light on potential reasons why my insolubles are so high?

Well, after spending several hours looking through the .org and the web, things seem to be OK in my Tranny. Copper seems high, but looking through the spread sheet's show Maxima's copper as high on average. IceY2K1 had 37 at 15,000mi and Matt93SE had 11 after only 5000, so staying below the 10 average doesn't sound to easy. I guess with 46,000 mi 49 isn't too bad. Lead was kind of high as well, similar to IceY2K1's readings though. Aluminum was twice the average as well, that, however, doesn't line up with others. Don't know if that indicates any problems. Some materials may be left over from break in since I don't think the oil had ever been changed by the previous owner. I've switched to MT-90 now.
Conclusion:
I'm not worried, but will probably re-test in 10-15k to be sure.
Any comments are still welcome and appreciated.

I also noticed the spread sheet states the average maximum for insolubles at 0.8% Others have roughly the same values as myself. They screwed up at first and rated me as an Automatic transmission. They changed some values, and think that value should have changed too, but I don't think they quite put their heart and soul into my test.

A little over 3K to go and I'll have a MT-90 w/15K miles on it sample. Should take me 3-months or so though.
I'd change every 10K if it were me, since my shifter is has gotten quite notchy lately. I'm only waiting until 15K, so I can compare apples-to-apples.

That's including my "long" road trip.
Might drive about 1K miles over christmas, so we'll see if I can get there faster.
