ATF in Crankcase.........

My friend knows all of these old mechanic tricks and so far they have all worked. He introduced me to seafoam and that did an amazing job in cleaning all of the carbon out. My car smoked forever it seemed like, but drives so much better now. But when i did my recent oil change he suggested putting two quarts of ATF in the crankcase after i drained the oil. So I used the ATF pretty much like an engine flush. I started her up and let her sit in idle for five minutes and then i drained again. This time the ATF was dirt black, it had apparently did something. My friend said something about ATF having a bunch of detergents that are better than most of the additives out there. It was certainly better and cheaper than buying an engine flush. Basically has anyone elso heard of this, it didn't ruin the engine or anything it is running fine and strong. Better than ever, i can't wait till i get me warpspeed y-pipe and highflow cat. Just wanted to see if anyone has tried this or what do you think about it. Good idea or bad idea, too late now for me i have already tried it, and i did it in my 300zx to when i had it, seems to have no bad effect.

I have heard of these tricks, though personally for the $2 extra it will cost you to buy a product DESIGNED to flush the engine, I stick to them (I have used Seafoam and Amsoil engine flush).

I've heard of those. But i bought this engine flush, i'm not sure what's the name of the label but it looks like ATF since it ws cherry red. I pour it in and run the engine in idle. As soon as it got warmed up, i shut her down. Drain it, it was pitch black.
