Man, I was asleep at the wheel, and this damn 'dealer' outbid me by .50 cents on one of these 'soon to be musuem' oil filters. ARGH...

Maybe I've been out of the loop for awhile, but isn't the 15208-60U00 filter the "cheap" one that has replaced the 15208-9E000? The winning bid was for like $10.50, + $4.00 shipping. Hmm... $14.50 for 2 filters that cost $5.00 each + tax at the dealership.
Just my thoughts. I could be way off base.

its in the stickies:

"The 60U00 filter (the light gray one) has a solid reputation and is a "heavy duty" filter for Nissan's early to mid-90s model engines, especially on the VE with the VTC issues. As Kaleb can attest, it works well on the VG30E engines as well. "

It's actually in the stickies that the 15208-60U00 (VE specific and apparently a very well designed/built filter) has been DISCONTINUED by Nissan and replaced with the 15208-55Y00 (VG specific - don't know how well designed it is - I'll be cutting mine open at my next oil change - I'm hoping it's not a FRAM inside). Whatever stock you can find of the 60U00 is all there is.

What's wrong with the Fram inside? I haven't had any issue with that.

Cardboard end caps, weak/leaking bypass valve, low square inch of media. For the same price there are better made filters out there. Fram used to be good years ago, apparently. Go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and look in the oil filter section - draw your own conclusions. Or do a google search on oil filter comparisons. Many people have come to the same conclusion about Fram. (Their X2 filter is different, but twice as expensive as well)
