Prolong: Truth or Trash?
Ok, we all saw that guy dump sand onto that exposed cylinder head on late night info-marathons. And when I got my max, i started using Prolong with every oil change. I also added the "booster" or whatever to the MT gear oil.
Am i wasting my hard, earned, American bucks? Or Helping my VQ get another 80K?
Thanks any and all -Mike

Wasting your money is my vote. Possibly negating the results you think you're achieving by altering the chemistry of the host oil as well. If you're using a high quality oil, especially a synthetic, you'd be better off just using that alone.

I vote with iwannabmw... petroleum/chemical engineers spend a lot of time and money developing formulas for their lubricants and getting them approved. When you add another chemical to the mix, you're altering the formula and there's no telling what you will end up with. Several of the manufacturers of these additive products have been sued over the past couple years for making false claims. As iwannabmw recommends, use a top quality motor oil and stay away from the additives.

The FTC sued all the "miracle products" and they were all forced to cease and assist the outlandish claims and almost all had to pay huge amounts of money in settlements. Read these and you decide if it's a waste of money.
