I used it in my 87 pathfinder that had 220K on it, felt nothing from it.

I would try to avoid using stuff like that. They don't really help anything...and if your motor is having problem with low compression, just simply adding something like that will not be a permanent fix. Plus with the additives in that, you'd probably would gunk up the motor if anything. If you want an additive to add, the only things I would put in is Rislone or Seafoam. Rislone a high detergent oil, so it will clean out any build up and gunk. Seafoam is a just a great all around petroleum cleaner that can be used in many ways, and is very effective when used right. I'd try to return that if you can.

I'd read thoroughly what it actually does. I've heard from a friend that some products do TOO well a job. One product he used killed his engine because it got all the gunk out, including the stuff surrounding the rings in the engine. After years and years of use, cleaning up those rings results in looseness.

Not all products result in this (Seafoam seems to be a safe one from the experiences of others) but do approach with caution.

Yeah, I've used Seafoam with pretty good results, as well as Rislone. Either way good point. You should definately take caution when using ANY additive...even if people recommend it.

Don't just listen to a friend when it comes to certain things.

Do the reading yourself and try it for yourself. It's like people telling me that I'm going to have a hell of a time driving around with a high output alternator. I did the research myself and now I'm cruising with no problems. Don't believe that cleaning the gunk out of your engine will kill it.

yes it works. one day i was trying to change my sparkplugs in my 92 max when one got stuck. with a little force i loosened it but broke the porcelain. to make a long story short part of the sparkplug fell into the engine and scraped the cylinder walls causing blue smoke to pour out.
i took it to a mechanic who was a nissan expert he put a can of restore in and in just a couple of hours of driving the smoke dissapeared and full compression came back i was amazed. i use it every now and then on my 97 only because it works.

engine restore really works good. Too good almost. I put some in for an oil change 1000k ago. When I checked the oil level the next week it was black. Like all the gunk had been taken off the engine and put right in the oil. My car was very peppy when I used the restore. But I did another oil change about 500-1000 miles after using the restore. My car still runs strong. I'd only use it if you had a newer engine. Some engines have been abused to long to use that stuff. It may cause some of the gaskets to leak if they were full of debris. If your car is well taken care of then go ahead and use it.

I tried it on a 93 mitsubishi eclipse...190K miles. Noticed the same thing (black oil after only a month). Guess it does a cleaning job too. A friend told me to try it...so I didn't really read the label.

Couldn't really tell if it helped performance, because I had to play with the timing to get it to pass emissions at the time. The damn thing still smokes...but hey...guess I'll have to bucker up and do the rings afterall....errr...one of these days...heh.
