AT and radiator flush, DYI or service pro?
My Max just hit 30k and I was looking to do an AT flush and radiator flush....For the AT flush Nissan charges about $109 and the radiator is about $70...Is it worth having th AT flush done by Nissan techs, or should I take the car to a local mechanic, or DYI? As for the radiator flush, this is DYI is it?
Links to AT and radiator flush are welcome....

Here is a link, which is generic enough and still applies to 2k2 http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/502
Make sure to:
1) use a silicates-free coolant, preferably Nissan's (it is expensive but still cheaper than replacing a water pump)
2) use destillated water, not tap water, to achieve the 50/50 coolant/water mixture
3) dispose of the old coolant properly
If you want to flush all the old coolant from the system, after draining the radiator, refill it with destillated water and run the engine for several minutes. Repeat this procedure until the water drained from the radiator looks clean. Since the cooling system capacity for the 2k2 is 7.25 qts and the radiator takes 4 qts, after draining the radiator one more time, there should still be enough water in the system to reach a near 50/50 coolant-water mixture if you just add coolant into the radiator.

I just did the rad flush myself a week ago, i used ~35L of distilled water and ~4.2L of Toyota Red OEM Coolant. I'd use either Toyota Red or Nissan Blue OEM if I was you, sure you pay more ($38CAD), but in the end you know it's done right vs. the Stealership who refills with Prestone or some other junk. Not only that, it's beyond easy once you start doing it, you can get almost all of old coolant out without damaging the rad and it's far cheaper.
