Motor oil. what type do I use?

In CT, 10W-30 or 0W-20 in winter.
I believe the 10W-40 is just 10W-30 with lots of additives to extend the viscosity range. Which tends to gunk up the works more than help unless the engine was designed for it.

I would use 10W30 for summer and 5W30 for winter... you want thinner oil in the winter and just a bit heavier in the summer... although you can technically run 5W30 year round.
Heat in the summer breaks down oil and thins it out... Cold weather makes oil stay a little heavier so you want thinner in the winter.... OEM is 5W30.. I wouldnt put anything other than 5W30 or 10W30
