what the hell?

Ok so I dropped the pan, cleaned it, got to the filter ready to replace it... cant open the last bolt... the nut... it keeps on turning with the stud... tried to hold the stud with nose pliers, stripped a little of the stud at the end... no help there... put everything back together without changing the gasket and the filter... came around to quick lube (the only place open at sat 5pm), they told me they dont change filters for maximus cause they need to remove the valve body... called my neighbor service manager at nissan... he tells me dont ever open the valve body... wtf is wrong with nissan and this damn nut? how can i take it out now i really need to replace my filter its very dirty with gunk... is there some type of tool to help me hold the stud (like a screw-on)? spent entire day trying to figure out how to get the damn nut off and cant do it... this is like 4th time this week changing atf (was fixing cv shaft earlier this week)... I need some major hints at this cause changing that filter is a must for me since my father never changed atf for 89k and i need to replace the filter...

Someone can chime in with how to get that last nut off. It can be done but since most transmissions are now considered non-maintenance the dealers don't want to touch them.

It's not a filter. Big deal, if it's not comming off just spray it some brake cleaner, let it evaporate, takes a few minutes, and be done with it.

yeah but i think i might have damaged it in the process of frantically trying to get it off... was bending it, poking it... and it looks like crap with dirt on top... going to go to mechanic tomorrow and have them replace the filter for 40 $... just want to have a piece of mind at last...

He has the screen but can't get the bolt off. The whole thread is about him not being able to take off the bolt? Have you read any of it before typing your useless comment?

Do you ever use common sense before being a ***** in every thread?

Obviously the bolt is stripped, what do you do? Drill it down the middle with a very small bit and let it disintegrate itself.

What are the chances of damaging the new screen? Pretty high when you think of it.

its not stripped, all of them are like that. you have to use something hold the outside while you turn the inside. i used a vice grip to hold the outside and it came loose. why nissan elected to use one is beyond me. i coud not get it first time so i just wiped the screen down. when i dropped it again, i played with it a little more and was able to loosen it using that method.

i tried the vice grip and everything else there was... even tried to cut it in between to make it like a screw line... all failed ... the latter method was too dangerous since there was many wires close by... the darn thing keeps turning no matter what...

the bolt is not stripped... i said that it got stripped a little at the end of the stud, not where the nut is... the thing is I have to worry first about the nut comming lose and not turning with the stud.

I use common sense, do you? Being a *****, ha. You ****ed up and now you're pissed at me? Why is he gonna need a new screen when he has one already since the old one isn't coming off? I don't need common sense to read, you do. Another thing, I believe he is talking about the nut that just comes off by itself instead of the whole bolt. There is one like that all others are bolts. He probably can't drill that one out. How does something disinegrate itself?

I added the last 2 senstences in the edit. Why would I need to edit the post to make myself look like I'm right when you haven't realized you're post was pointless?

so can I just leave the old filter on there and just spray the brake cleaner inside the filter? would this brake cleaner do anything to the transmission since i will spray half a can in there and it will penetrate the filter and go to the transmission.

Really? Wow! How exactly do you talk BS on the internet. I may say some crap but BS? Show me. Stop contradicting yourself. You say people shouldn't take things on the net seriously yet your panties seem to be all in a bunch cause of some BS I apparently said to ofend you. Get real. No matter what you say online if I ever met you I'd be the first to buy you a beer and just hang out.

If you spray the BC in there it will clean the screen and just drip down anyway so it won't do any harm. Replacing the screen isn't needed AT ALL.
