Oil Type Question

I have an 02 SE that I recently bought and was just wondering people's opinion on what type of oil to use (synthetic vs conventional). I used to use Mobil 1 Synthetic in my old car, but I have read on the forum about oil getting into the air filter when using synthetic. I really love this car so far and want it to last as long as possible. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Use synthetic. There is NO WAY oil can get in the air filter unless you have MAJOR problems. The oil in the air filter threads refer to aftermarket air filters that use oil to help filter the air (like K&N). In which case, it is a matter of over-oiling the filter. Synthetic grade oil will extend the life of the car and enable you to go greater distances on each oil change. I generally change mine every 4,500 miles.
