Is it true?

is it true if you run race gas itll clean out your motor? Sometime that is unleaded but like 105 octane/C-16. My mechanic a fond race driver and mechanic of rotarys said instead of using all that junk on the market that supposedly clean your carbon buildup etc...just fill your tank up with high octane fuel, and it should clean up alot of junk in your motor. Its hard to believe him because no one has mentioned this before but then again, hes been building race motors and car for a long time.

Absolutely not true. All octanes have the same amount of detergents. Some brands clean better than others. None will clean as good as a can of BG44K.

Yes, you just pour it in your gas tank. It's pretty expensive, but you can find it at almost any dealership. It will probably cost between $17-23.

The problem with BG44K is that BG reformulated it a few months ago and I doubt there's anything left of the old stock by now. The new formula is nothing special according to the people who compared the new and old products' MSDSs. The conclusion was Chevron w/ Techron is a better choice given the cost of BG44K. There is a thread about this some pages back.
