I completed the rinse phase in November after doing the treatment with Chevron Supreme 10w-30. I am running the Castrol Syntec 0w-30 (Imported from Germany).

Auto rx is a non solvent based solution (natural esters) that slowly clean the ring packs and dissolve sludge. This is a real product that works. It is a great formula for people that want to go the synthetic route but need to clean out the engine. For older vehicles that run dino, it is a great product to keep the seals soft and not leak as well as stop leaks.

If you are interested in buying the product, let me know; I might be able to locate an internet coupon for you.

The melting point of Auto Rx has to be near that of water or higher. It came in the mail pretty solid/gelled up. I had to keep it in the house until I needed it and it still gelled onto the funnel I was using (I had to open the garage to back up the van to get room so I could change the oil filter). I made sure I mixed it well running my wife's van around the neighborhood for about 20 min.

Any chance on that coupon... ? I should have bought the second bottle on the spot.

CCS2k1Max and mzmtg,

Check your PMs.

Heh. Both of our cars have over 200k. I guess that's at least 4 bottles of AutoRX...

Yeah. I believe the price per bottle comes down with each additional bottle ordered.

You can also use autorx in your transmission. I have not used in there yet since I only have 60k miles on it and recently had it flushed in the course of getting the TSBs on it fixed.

With auto rx, you can use the cheap SuperTech oil and filter if you want since the drain intervals are so short.

ATF has some pretty strong detergents already. it's one of the reasons people put in the oil to clean the engine. I've never seen a "gunked" up auto tranny perse. I guess if your tranny fluid has been burnt from abuse, I guess it might need it. Or if you are trying to seal a small seep, it might work.

What benefits are being reported from putting in the tranny?

Auto rx will liquify the contaminants in the tranny and condition the seals hence giving better shifts. I am going to use this stuff before my next T Tech since the 5th gen auto trans is nothing special.

Isn't that what the strong detergents in the ATF already do?

Question, have your valve cover gaskets ever leaked? I have a long job to do when it staarts to get warm.

ATF does not liquify the contaminants; auto rx does. Auto rx cleans out the valve body which regulates the shifts much like auto rx cleans out the ring packs in the engine for better performance.

They weep a little, I wouldn't call it anything near a "leak" though.

I used RX in an old Ford van to stop an oil pan leak. It did stop the leak for @7K miles but then the leak came back. Ended up replacing the gasket. But I must say, the van ran much better for the next 10-15K miles and gas mileage improved. Now 20K miles later, same sluggish idle and poorer mileage is back. So this stuff doesn't last forever and isn't a miracle cureall. But I think it does what it claims and does no harm. I have another application of RX in that van right now. I also used it in my Altima. Couldn't tell a bit of difference in that car as I could with the van. So use it with your eyes wide open.

I dunno fellas, i've used it... I ran 2 treatments right after reach other. leaks got worse, didnt notice any engine performance. All i can, it just cleaned out my sludge and made my leaks more apparent! haha. fair i guess. IMO, the best solution for a leaky engine is a gasket/seal replacement! GIT ER DONE!

Uhm, yep...no chemical like Auto-RX will repair what may be essentially a mechanical issue, like a damaged or worn out gasket. Replacement may be the only correct way to go.

I know I'm ignorant, but I have to question the usefulness of a product that claims to work for both the engine and tranny. It seems like this stuff is maybe trying to be a cureall.

Their index page is also quite sensationalist, and I don't like that.

Friction ==> heat ==> varnish/sludge. Can't a single product remove the varnish/sludge from wherever it may be?

Hi guys,

Nice to see a spirited discussion of Auto-Rx.

During the cold months it is best to put the ARX bottle in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes so it will flow better. Once it mixes with the oil there will be no further flow issues.

On seal leaks, be sure to follow the directions for the seal leak application as posted on the Auto-Rx website. Many times, the ARX treatment will dissolve false, sludge-based seals and there will be additional leakage for some time. It is crucual that you run Dino oil until the leak finally stops. This can take up to 3000 additional miles beyond the application finish, as it can take that long for the seals to reform. It is, of course, possible that the seals are physically damaged; in that case no treatment of any kind will be effective.

Be sure to use the coupon code, ARXOF, to get a few bucks off on your order.

Hello Larry. I just finished the rinse phase in my wife's minivan and the heads look like they are brand new! (running the cleaning phase on the max)

Thanks for the coupon code (it should find it's way into a sticky).
