Oversized oil filter for VQ?

Is there an oversized oil filter available for the VQ30DE and VQ35DE? Just curious to know if there's an existing part # (Purolator, etc) for a filter with the same diameter and thread size but longer to accomidate more oil and filtering capacity. Perhaps for the new Frontier VQ40 motor?

Bigger filter doesn't mean better filtering. There are a million "which filter/oil do you use?"........ follow the instructions in my sig to make 40 posts/page and start reading.

A larger filter has a larger filter element area which, in turn, can influence the performance of a filter. Is it the only contributing factor? No. Just curious to know if there was a list of part numbers for different sized filters...they all seem to be either the same size or slightly shorter in length than the OEM part.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but the search function has been out for a while now...and I've seen lots of threads on the synthetic/non-synthetic oil debate. However, I haven't seen anything (glanced at the stickies) with a list of part numbers compatable with our blocks or for different sizes.

Does anyone know what the thread type is for our filter mounts?

you have to donate to the org to have the search. All i know that is my maxima uses a PZ-109 oil filter from penzoil. Its a small filter but it works.

In the OEM line, the 9E000 is the "tall" version of the VQ filter. You'll have to look for cross-references, but in the Mobil-1 line, three filters fit the VQ35: M1-108 (the standard punt thimble filter size, fits both VQ30 and 35), the M1-110 (same size as the "tall" 9E000, fits both VQ30 and 35), and the M1-105 (much wider filter that's between the other to in "tallness", has the same base, of course; fits ONLY the VQ35). Hope that helps.

You can use a 300zx filter. It wont improve anything except that you wont have to change it until the second oil change.

For VQ35 any Honda 1990-1999 accord oil filter will fit. Not sure about the VQ 30
