Blackstone results!!! Need help!!!

I received my results but I am not sure what any of it means... The TBN is 4.8 and the lead is 10 and should be a 5. There are some other higher numbers but the lead is the only one in bold.

They did not tell me if I could extend my drain interval. For the test I ran amsoil 0w 30 with the nissan OEM filter. I changed the filter at 3k miles and at 6k miles I took the sample and sent it in.

Now I'm running the same oil but I'm using the amsoil SDF 13 filter. The car hit 5k miles on the current setup and I'm not sure if I should send another 6k mile sample to see the results..

Anyones input would be greatly appriciatied. Here is a copy of the test results.

thanks for the input.

Post your results on www.bobistheoilguy.com in the Used Oil Analysis Forum and you will get some incisive input. Also get back to Blackstone and ask them to interpret the data and ask what the ideal OCI would be.

The VQ engine seems to show 10+ ppm lead count in many reports that I have seen.

You might consider using the interpretation services of Terry Dyson for a small fee of $20. There is a Blackstone Analysis TBN/Dyson commentary package available for $40 that you should consider for your next UOA.

2k2MerlotSE - are you still reading this thread? I'd rather not post my thoughts on your UOA on BITOG, although I have read the thread you have going there. I normally wouldn't contradict Terry Dyson, but I don't think his advice on AutoRX or Fuel Power have anything to do with your elevated lead - I think it is just his general care care advice. AutoRX is for cleaning dirty engines - your engine is still young and you have been using Amsoil so I doubt its dirty at all. it wouldn't hurt for you to use it, but don't expect it to decrease your lead.

however - Terry's advice on air filtration is probably right on. i would try an OEM nissan air filter, or a good aftermarket (such as wix) instead of the Amsoil air filter. i'm using OEM right now and had very low Si and Pb in my last UOA. I don't really know much about Amsoil products, so it's hard for me to critique them, I can only share my experiences with what I have used.

yeah go ahead with the ARX and FP. it wont hurt at all. just follow the instructions carefully. do another UOA after 5k miles or so on your post ARX OCI (e.g. not the clean phase, not the rinse phase, but 5k miles after you put in new oil after the rinse phase -- make sense?)
