latest oil filters
First, I asked it in the sticky but nobody answered my question there, so I’m forced to start a new thread on this.
I was just wondering, are the filters listed in the sticky on top of this forum are still considered the best filters for our cars, or there are new and better filters out on the market right now? Almost 3 years have passes since the sticky was posted.

Thanks for info guys, tomorrow I'm changing my oil and starting auto-rx cleaning. I'm using Castrol GTX.
Will Nissan OEM 15208-9E000 do a good job filtrating all the staff "brought in to motion" by auto-rx or I should get something different?

Actually, the Nissan 15208-9E000 is a very good filter. If it was me, I'd probably save it for when you'll have the oil in for longer than 1500 miles (I'm assuming you're doing 1500 miles with AutoRX). Unless of course you have access to more 9E000's at the dealership, in which case I'd use it and stock up on a few more. Some dealerships don't have the 9E000's anymore, and they're not being made anymore in favor of the cheaper, less quality made 6*****.
The 9E000 will filter very well, and has a good ADV (anti-drainback valve) design. I was impressed when I cut one open compared to the others I've done. And more importantly, I've noticed my car is quieter on startup with it than other filters (I currently have the Mobil 1 M-110, which is reportedly a very similar design. The Mobil 1 is quiet too). I had used a Bosch 3323 before, and the car had a horrible "rattle" for the first 2 seconds it was cranked. Same with an STP I'd used. And I'm secure enough in my manhood to admit I had used a Fram once (pre-BITOG years), with the same noise.
Filters I use, in order of preference, are:
OEM 15208-9E000 -excellent ADV design, quality construction, and only $5 at dealership. Judging from filter media and # of pleats, I assume filtration would be better than some others.
PureOne PL14610 - excellent ADV, quality construction, supposedly good filtration (from independent reports), inexpensive and usually readily available at Advance Auto.
Mobil 1 M1-110 - same as PureOne, but with possibly better filtration due to synthetic media (from independent reports). Downside is kinda expensive for an oil filter at about $12. But it's readily available at Advance and AutoZone.
Hope this helps.

Interesting, I've just bought OEM 15208-9E000 and they sold it to me without any problems. You think I should go there tomorrow and get a couple more just in case?
DrKlop,
If the dealer isn't out of the way, I'd get a few more. Very good filter for $5.
My dealer is 30 miles away. So whenever I'm in that area, I try to remember to pick a few up. But I won't drive 30 miles just to get a filter when the PureOne or Mobil 1 will work as well and can be sourced locally. They just cost a little more.

my dealer is 10 minutes away. Today I've picked up one more just in case. I was about to get more but the guy said that he got the whole cabinet of them and he is getting the new ones every week. Thanks for your help though.
I actually went to the dealership today to pick some 9Es up and the guy had like 200 something in stock. When I told him that it was interesting considering they had discontinued those, he said they hadn't been discontinued. He said they get them all the time. And wondering if the computer had crossed over the numbers already, I checked all the boxes and they were 9Es. So now I'm wondering if they really are discontinued.
The 9E000's were mentioned in the one of the stickies by Bill99GXE as having been discontinued a while back. I think they even verified this with Nissan's computer program, where it was cross-referenced with the 6E****, because the 9E000 was no longer available??? I know when I go to my dealership, I have to ask for it by part number, 'cause their computer tells them to give me the 6E***. Next time I'm over there, I'll ask the parts guy more info on it.
