Contrary to what some may tell you, there is no reason you can't switch between dyno/sythetic oils.

I don't know about switching from dino to syn, but syn to dino should be alright... unless someone tells me otherwise.

I asked a civil question and this is the response I get! Go figure!

After almost three years of membership and in excess of 7,000 posts and you ask an inane question like this, lol!

If you can't afford synthetic oil, just say so.

So what is the OCI? What does it stand for and what does it mean to me? Where can I find the OCI count of a particular oil?

If you want an education on motor oil, join www.bobistheoilguy.com

The recommended OCI for our cars is 3,750 miles (oil and filter) on dino oil. However, if you did a lot of highway driving, you could probably extend that somewhat.

Have a nice day!

Your engine is just getting broken in. What is your typical OCI and driving habits (city, highway, % thereof)?

isn't 2800 miles on synthetic overkill? I do realize its city driving...but can't u extend the change furthermore? I always had the assumption....5k = city miles 7.5k = highway miles......for synthetic that is

2800 miles on synthetic is wasting money. I used to go 7500+ miles on my Amsoil w/ a filter change inbetween.

Do two trials of AutoRX. It may fix the rear main seal leak. Ask Frank at www.auto-rx.com his opinion on the likelihood of AutoRX solving the leak problem.

How many months does it typically take to put on the 2800 miles?

I think you are wasting your money. Extend your OCIs like everyone says.

I plan on going to a one-year OCI when I switch to Esso XD3. However, this will likely translate into no more than 10,000 kilometres (6,200 miles) in a year, with roughly 75% highway miles.
