Mobil1 comes in the 5000 mile oil which is non-synthetic. 7500 mile which is semi-synthetic, 15,000 miles extended performance which is Full Group IV synthetic and then just regular Mobil1 Synthetic which is also full synthetic with less additives since it is not marketed as extended performance.
My girlfriends 2003 uses Castrol Syntec 5W-30 frm December to June. It was on sale 6 quarts for $3.99 each plus a 10 BP giftcard. I'm not sure what her next oil will be.

Hey I know this might sound like a stupid question, but is there a way to tell the difference between a synthetic oil and non-sytnethic oil like physically? I recently change mah oil in a mobil gas station. I told them to put synthetic, but these mechanics were talking a lot of spanish so i didnt know what they were saying. Anyway i was paranoid if they would put conventional oil beside synthetic.....which i paid for synthetic which was almost 100% more expensive.....so anyway to feel or see or tocuh or smell blah blah to tell the difference thanks a lot.....in addition......i didnt tell them or ask them wut filter they put so i am guessing they would look up the book and put wutever the book says which is ? ____ m1-108?

Mobil Drive Clean is the regular dino Mobil oil, I still see it on shelves and my guess is that when the stores sell out if it, then all they will carry is the Mobil 5000 which is a full dino oil, no synthetic, the 7500 is a blend.
Im still in my break-in, when I hit 10k Im switching to German Castrol

i've used mobil 1 fully synthetic since i bought my 01 max. there was one change about a year ago where i slipped up. it was right around the time that mobil 1, in the marketing ******* division's infinite wisdom, decided to change all of their lines to idiot-friendly names like "mobil 1 5000", "mobil 1 7500", and "mobil 1 15000". the bottle designs looked very similar, and the blend type wasn't displayed very prominently. thinking they were all fully synthetic, i grabbed the cheaper one (since i change at 3000 mi intervals, regardless of oil blend), the "mobil 1 5000". i didn't notice it was organic until my father said something to me one day. i was pissed.
here's a piece of trivia for you: mobile 1 fully synthetic is factory filled in chevrolet corvettes.

Guys so what is the rated miles for the regular mobil 1 Synthetic? That is what I use. Since the Blend is 7500 and the synthetic with extended performance is 15,00. Is it safe to assume that it is somewhere around 10,000?
Also people say not to use synthetic if your car is old and you havent used it before because it find leaks and makes them worse. Thing is Ive been using it on my car since 20,000 miles. Would it be a good idea to swtich back to "prevent" leaks or am I good now since Ive been using it from the begining?

recycled oil will destroy an engine and any place putting it into your car or anyones car without them knowing is looking at a lawsuit, your better off running 15k intervals on quality dino,

I've used Mobil one for a long time now, and it's all thats ever been in the max, the car seems to run allot smoother than other similar max's w/ conventional oil. And yes most every dealership uses recycled oil. It normally sits in a big steel drum in the garage and it's either 10w40 or 5w30 and whether its a Ferrari or a Kia it'll get the same oil. Just remeber there oil changes are cheap for a reason...

The oil you see in dealer shops sitting in big barrels (or durms) is only bulk motor oil. It is not necessarily recycled motor oil. Walk over an check what the label on the durm says. Bet it is does not even mention recycled. The dealer buys oil in bulk because the drum can be recycled, reducing substantially the cost of individual quart plastic bottels. The larger 5-quart container that Wal-Mart sells Mobil 1 in is also cheaper than individual 1 quart plastic bottels (which is why the per-quart cost of these jugs is less) -- but not as cheap as the reusable oil drum.
