need to confirm
Putting too much oil into the crankcase will not cost any problems, right?
I put 1/5 of a quart more than I was supposed to and just wanted to confirm that it's fine.
Thanks

Not a good move, but at 1/5 of a quart, not likely to cause any big problems.
If you pull the oil drain plug, you will probably take too much out before you get the plug back in the pan again. I would check the dip stick to see how high the oil level is above the top mark on the stick. You can see if the level is about 1/5 of whatever the distance is between the two marks on the dip stick. If it is more, I would try to drain some off to get it down.

As fanny as it sounds, i can't read the damn dipstick in our cars. In all other cars there's a clear boundary between oil and no oil. In maxima, every time I take it out to check oil level the first 5 inches are covered with oil even after I wipe it and check it again.
What problems can it cause?

And because the crankshaft is turning at several thousand revolutions per minute, it can quickly whip your oil into a froth — like the steamed milk that sits on the top of a cappuccino. Why is that bad? Well, the oil pump can't pump froth very well, and as a result, it can't get oil to the parts of the engine that need lubrication. The result ... a hefty boat payment to your mechanic."
I thought the bottom of the crank was sitting in oil? Or the pump just sprays oil on the crank and bearings and everything? Sorry if that sounds dumb i dont know a ton about engine internals, well im trying to learn
