1st oil change via the dealer..

I have read that the use of syn oils is not reommended until after 10k on our cars so I asked the service manager about it and he said after 7500 make the switch and he has heard of now problems with syn's as long as a 100% syn oil is used meaning any brand. The only thing he recommended was the OEM filter, he said he has had problems with other oil filters on Nissan vehicles that have the 3.5 in it. Interesting...

Open for suggestions/comments as I am a believer of Mobil 1 Syn oil.

I was told the same thing when I went to a car clinic for Nissan owners who purchased new vechicles at the particular dealership I bought mine from. 7500 miles was the mark because they want to ensure the engine is completely broken in (his words). He also said synthetic oil is great and keeps heat down. If the oil manufacturer says change every 15000 miles like the new mobile says, it's fine as long as you change your filter every 3750 (Nissan filter only recommended). You will loose about a quart of oil which you can add once you get the new filter on. Not a bad trade off. I will definitely switch to synthetic once my car gets to 7500.

OEM Filter.

Interesting, because behind the service counter at a Nissan dealership there are various OEM filters. All with variable levels of Quality. I dont think the dealers put the right filters on. I just bought six of the 9E0000 gray made in Japan filters. They are suposed to be the best. 5.22 each plus tax.
