No problem whatsoever. Next time try a Kamikaze mix. Little bit of 5w-20 here, bit of 5W-30 there, a shot of 10W-30 to top off and bam!

What I'm saying is, it won't make a difference.

No problem at all, especially since both of the oils are same-brand and both viscosities are Nissan-approved for the VQ. Give this not another thought.

Given my changing opinions about oil weight, I mix my Mobil 1 oil weights every time I change oil.

- I had quite a bit of 10W30 weight Mobil 1 because that was the weight that my previous car required (it was totaled unexpectedly in 03).

- When I could get a good price more recently on Mobil 1, I bought some 5W30 -- because that was what Nissan recommended in the manual.

- Then I found out that in Europe, Nissan recommends 10W30 for their VQ 3.5 engines. It provides better high temperature protection is my assumption for this European recommendation. The US recommendation of a lighter weight oil is so they can claim a very slightly higher EPA mileage rating.

So to use both weights of oil that I have in stock, I uses only one qt of 5W30 when I change oil for the summer and 2 quarts of 5W30 when I change oil for the winter. Have had no problems and don't expect any. When all of the existing 5W30 is used, I will stick to 10W30 year round.

oh so there isn't any problem mixing since they are both good quality oils and synthetic cool.

It is also appropriate because the only difference in the two oils is the weight (10W30 vs 5W30). They are both the same Mobil 1 oil with the same additives and synthetic base stocks -- except for those additives and stocks that control weight.
