whats the best synthetic MTG on the market
I have a 5-speed and, quite frankly, I couldn't be bothered switching to synthetic gear oil. A lot of members seems to like Redline MT90 for a synthetic gear oil.
I would be more inclined to use synthetic transmission fluid in an autotragic, but I've never owned one.

I dont think the Mobil is GL-4. You can only use GL-4.... do not use GL-5 becuase it will wear out the syncros.
I had MT-90 in my stock tranny. It was fine, but I didnt notice any difference.
It started leaking so I topped it off with cheapo GL-4 from NAPA. Its thicker thats for sure. Still no real difference in shifting IMO.
I am now running Amsoil synth. And its really thin. I do like it, but then again its in my new(er) tranny. Im sure both synthetics last longer and protect better. Worth the money? Who knows.
I have also tried MT-90 mixed with MTL, and that was fine too.
Basiclly just go out and buy what ever you like, but make sure it doenst say GL-5 anywhere on the bottle.

You do not want to use a fluid that is GL-5/GL-4. You should only use a GL-4 fluid. Both Amsoil and Redline make this synthetic GL-4 fluid in the proper weight. I'm running Redline because when I changed fluid last year, Amsoil had not reissued the GL-4 line that it had earlier dropped. I'm certainly happy with the Redline, but expect I would have also been happy with the Amsoil if I could have gotten it when I needed it. Check out the stickies on how to do this change yourself -- you will also find other valuable info in that thread.
Based on the Imperial Oil specs for the Mobil synthetic fluid you are considering, it appears that it too is a straight GL-4 fluid. The specs also say that the Mobil fluid is a lighter weight (SAE 50) than the Redline product I am using (SAE 75W90). In Canada you may want the lighter fluid to handle the colder weather. Down here, I will stick with the heavier fluid in my trannie where I frequently drive where summer temps are over 100 degrees F.
