Oil

Does anyone of you use Shell Rotella Synthetic oil 5W-40 or the Mobil Delvac1 5W-40? Both, Rotella and Delvac are rated “C” for commercial use (gas and diesel engines) so primarily truck drivers use it.

Read a lot about all kind of tests but didn’t see any of the two mentioned above. Also read somewhere to stay away from “energy conserving” or “energy efficient” markings. Supposedly bad for the engine.

Any experience or recommendations?

Thanks.

I love the idea of 5-40 in a VQ, a truck rated one even more, energy conserving isnt bad for an engine, but its not as good as some other oils, my guess, the two you mentioned are both great choices, try it and let us know....

Just my $.02

I'm on the amsoil bandwagon. I get it for the same $ as mobil1.
I changed my oil last week after 5k miles of hard driving and the oil was not broken down and black like the the mobil used to be at 3k. Hope this helps.

I didn't have an UOA when I changed the oil. But before my next service I will be doing an analysis especially since I put amsoil in my 6.0 Bully Dog PS and I want to see how their oil holds up under boost.
