I have used the Lucas Oil in a lot of cars... I started using it because it was highly recommended over at a Pathfinder forum I frequent. Have continued to use it since. I drop a little bottle every other oil change JUST for giggles on the Sienna. Have yet to do it on the Max though...

Lucas oil is nothing but 'snake oil' and has been proven to do precious little. Cehck out Bobistheoilguy.com for the scoop. Auto Rx works very well and should be used in the event one wants to add an oil stabilizer.

Ditto on the Lucas oil.

Does AutoRx claim to stabilize oil (i.e. neutralize acid, etc.)? I thought it acted like a detergent/solvent or something.

Leave the Lucas Oil additive alone. on bobistheoilguy.com plug - he's the one that did the independent study on the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic oil, and how far you can take an oil change. Ever since I read his findings, I've been using Mobil 1 full synth and getting 9K plus miles out of each oil change, putting in a fresh oil filter at around 4,500 miles. Never any problems, but he does put that Lucas Oil additive to the test, and let's just say you have to see what happens to the oil treated with Lucas in order to believe it...

As far as to answer your initial question regarding the Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner, I've used it on more than one occasion with good results. I'd recommend using it, although I'm interested to see if anybody has anything to say about using Sea Foam as a fuel injector cleaner...

I have been using the techron injector cleaner for a couple of years with various cars and have had great results. I put it in when the gas tank is close to empty, then fill up with super unleaded techron gas.

That has to do a lot with how you drive your car. Give it to me for a week On the subject of Techon I have used it twice with good results. You dont want to use it to often because it will deteroate some of your seals. Just follow the recommedned on the bottle.

It burns really hot, like white hot so if you use it too much it can actually turn the tips of your plugs white and give them a haze

$20 a can?

damn, lol. ive got a stockpile of it, maybe i should start selling it for like $5 a can. heh.

anyway, techron, or any tank additive wont replace an induction service. an induction service is supposed to clean the throttle body, as well as a mediocre cleaning/carbon removal from the IM, and id does decent work on the combustion chamber also. not worth $100 IMO, id rather do a carbon blast with just plain water.

for BG 44k.

It is expensive but you don't use it every month. Maybe once or twice a year. I just recently did the BG induction cleaning. Using the high pressure canister and the atomizing nozzle, you spray the cleaner into the intake right before the TB while running it at like 2K rpm. Damn there was a lot of white smoke coming out of my car, but it ran like mad afterwards. BG stuff is really good.

Ive used the techron additive w/ no problems.

Just make sure whenever you put any additives in the gas to have at least 5 or 6 gallons of gas minimum.

dont think if you run something on an empty (low) tank it will work better.

so would a bottle of the techron in the gas tank and throwing a can of seafoam down the intake be equivalent to the "induction service"?

Sort of, but the BG induction service sends the cleaner through the intake with the car running in a fine mist. I'm not sure if the BG service does anything for carbon buildup in the cylinders though. That is where seafoam would do better to clean the carbon from the piston tops, and ring lands.

i dont have to. if people want to waste their money on cheap stuff they can do what they want. every veteran on here already knows that BG44K is the best and only cleaner that does anything. people want to be cheap and still get results. pay the extra money for something that actually works.
do a little research. every other forum agrees that it works.

The best product for cleaning the combustion chamber and ring packs is AutoRX. It does nothing for the intake manifold.

The prevailing wisdom seems to be that BG44K is an excellent, but very strong cleaner, really only appropriate for use on badly carboned/neglected engines, especially considering its cost. I mean, you don't need oven cleaner to do the dishes.

Other top end/injector cleaners you may want to try are AMSOIL PI (through distributors like our Paul S), Chevron Techron (concentrate) and Redline SI. That's more or less the order of preference I've seen.

i know a few locals who praise the 44K as well. i just hear the 3.5L is a bit partial (and delicate) to some things as opposed to others.
i just want to be sure im doing everything i should (w/out having to go to the dealer for everyting and getting ripped) be since we plan on keepint this car for a while.

Apart from BG44K, Gumout Regane and LubeControl FP60 are also highly regarded on BITOG as effective fuel system cleaners. LubeControl FP60 is effective on an on-going maintenance basis by adding it to every fill-up.

See the Additives forum on www.bobistheoilguy.com. Run a search.

Expand your horizons. There is more to life than Chevron Techron and Seafoam.

The MSDS for Chevron Techron lists 5-10% of the cleaner Polyetheramine. Gumout Regane has 30-40% Polyetheramine, so it seems to be a better deal.

yeah!!! it works

Ok iv used sea foam in my 88rx7 and my dads outboard moter. it did its job but however in my rx7 the fuel injectors started leaking a few months later but thats bc its a RX7. but sea foam isnt as good as the dealer service because all it does is remove some carbon form the injectors and help burn some from the piston heads due to the higher octane in the fuel
