Not to jack the thread, but what would be recommended for a 5 spd auto? Daily driving with no mods done to it........just looking for smoother quicker shifts, but still maintaining a safe margin.

Based on my experience with AMSOIL synthetics, you will not have any problems converting at this mileage. I can not speak for other brands. Here's a link to product information: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/atf.aspx

AMSOIL synthetic ATF is specifically labeled as meeting Nissan-matic D and is available from independent distributors. I am an authorized AMSOIL distributor and offer it to our members at dealer cost...post is located in the Group Deals forum http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=480065 . If you want a quote on it, send me a PM with your zip code and/or state of residence (so I can calculate sales tax and shipping).

Mobil 1 synthetic ATF is also popular and you can get it at just about any major parts store in your local area. Some people also like Redline synthetics and you can find on-line distributors.

Be careful in looking for ATF for this car...the 5-speed automatic requires Nissan-matic K where the 4 speed uses Matic-D. I am not aware of any aftermarket alternatives to Matic-K.

The best transmission fluid for a modded Maxima is manual transmission fluid. You'll have to do a 5-speed swap to use it, but it's worth it.
