Anyone use ATE blue ...

I just rec'd a can of ATE blue, and there's some rust around the bottom rim of the can along w/ a couple of small spots by the cap. Anyone else who use ATE blue find a little rust on their cans? Is it still safe to use or do ya think it's either been sitting on the shelf too long or it's been in too much moisture? Or is this normal? Any help would be great, thanks much.

Hmm, well brake fluid may cause corrosion - or strip paint at the very least. Mine shipped in a clean can, the remaining fluid i had is still in the can which in turn is wrapped in plastic several times over, which is then placed inside a paper bag to help prevent moisture from seeping in.

Anyway, it's hard to tell in your case, i say if there's no sign of rust on the inside threads of the cap then you should be fine. But then again, if there's rust that may mean either salt exposure or a lot of moisture which may have seeped in the can.

cap is sealed on the inside, so you should be okay.

sounds like something dripped on it in storage and caused the spots.
