OEM coolant part #

FYI - the Nissan OEM coolant part # is 999MP-AF000P

there are several OEM wholesalers and Nissan dealers that sell it online for about $14/gal. some offer free shipping for orders >$50. so next time you need to order some parts, go ahead and get a gallon of OEM coolant for your next cooling system flush and enjoy free shipping w/ no tax. at $14/gal there is no reason to take chances on $9/gal prestone, or anything else.

I bring this up now because a guy on BITOG just spent >$300 on cooling system repairs (including replacing his clogged radiator) after putting Prestone in his 5th Gen. This on a car with regular coolant changes (but using the wrong coolant). Why take chances to save $2/year?

Because for $2 a year I can buy something nice at the dollar store. Twice!

LOL.

It was me who went thro that expensive learning curve on coolants.

Anyway, I flushed my new radiator with OEM coolant out here in the Bay Area for $22 + tax. Nissan coolant is really expensive, you know they are not even manufactured in Japan, but by some company in Illinois.

I would stay away from OTC coolants for a long time!!!!

Toyota Red is just as good as Nissan OEM. Less expensive than Nissan, too. I just recently flushed out my old Nissan green and filled up with Toyota Red.

What did you pay for the Red? Was it less than $14 per gallon?

I will be doing a change about this time next year using the flush with distilled water recommended by Bill in the stickies.

No, these type of coolants can only be bought from the car dealers. I paid about $18.00 for Toyota red coolant. The Nissan green runs well over $20.00 depending on the dealer. Other members on here have used Toyota red and has agreed that they get great results from it as compared to the Nissan green.

Thanks, $18 per gallon is not a bad price. I would expect to get the same results from red (Toyota), blue (Honda) or green (Nissan) and will price shop all three before I change my antifreeze.

I have it on good authority that our original antifreeze (and any future complete antifreeze change) should last for 5 years or 90 K miles (whichever comes first). My plan it to be slightly proactive and change at 4.5 years or 75 K miles -- which for me should happen about the same time.
