I just bought 2 quarts today the rest was finished and non instock each cost $9 just want to find out if its fine for our tranny's to use i dont know but the guy i spoke to and the auto specialist told me that it will be fine please post if you know that some one used it or you did and had no problems with it and how many quarts are needed for our Maxima's thank you very much,

Compared to conventional hypoid gear lubricants, Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 performs exceptionally well over a wide range of temperatures. Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 achieves this through a unique proprietary formulation that deliver optimized viscosity as a function of temperature properties together with the highest level of inherent formulation stability and protects against thermal and oxidative degradation, wear and corrosion, and viscosity loss associated with premature shearing. It also can be used in extended service and for aiding in fuel economy performance.

Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 contains special friction modifiers designed for limited slip-type differentials. In most applications, the addition of special LS (limited slip) additives is not required. For axles requiring the highest level of limited-slip performance, OEM specific LS additives can be added to this fluid.

Recommend you do not use it in your max...it's a GL-5 lube intended to be used for hypoid gears. Use a good GL-4 gear oil as Nissan specifies.

You will need 5 quarts.

If in doubt, don't use it. You don't want GL-5. You need to use something that's either strictly GL-4 rated (no combination GL-3/GL-4/GL-5 stuff) or known to work well specifically in Maxima transmissions (like Amsoil MTG or Redline MT-90).

If you do end up going to the dealership for transmission fluid and what they give you is GL-5, steer clear.

Both posts above are correct. You don't want to use GL-5 or any product that will work in GL-5 conditions.

Be certain the product you put in your manual trannie says it is GL-4. Both Amsoil and Redline have a synthetic products that meets these requirements. Talkinghorse will sell you Amsoil products at a slight discount. Send him a private message.

For full disclosure, I used Redline MT-90 when I changed my trannie fluid about 18 months ago -- because Amsoil at the time did not have a GL-4 product -- they now do.

THanks guys i returned the product but i dont know they dont carry anymore redline tranny fluid i dont know what to do anyclues on where i can get it neither strauss or autozone sucks thanks alot,

I can also say that talkinghorse would not sell me a product that was close to what I needed when Amsoil was not making a GL-4 product that my Max needed. He wants you to get the proper product for the application and is careful (even when you are not) to be certain that what he sells gets the job done. I recommend him highly.

Talkinghorse is a great person to work with, plus I really don't think there's an better oil.

To bad for me I just did the 5-speed swap on my car and I just filled the damn tranny with the only 4 quarts of Mobile 1 .....

I guess that's the reason why it grinds alittle in 2nd....

...Yeah, that might have something to do with it.
