Leaking Tranny!!!

What's up? I have just discovered that my 1999 I30 Auto. Transmition has a leak. It is not that substantiol that I have no fluid, but it is deffanitly leaving spots on my driveway. My question to all of you is, Should I use the Royal Purple ATF or something else? I need the best ATF possible for both, cold and warm weather. I live in MASS.
Second question. Could it just be the seals that is making my tranny leak?

the trans pan is the most common leak source, if its that it's not a hard job to remove and reinstall with a new gasket. Royal Purple, Amsoil, and Redline are great choices for use in cold and hot weather if you're considering synthetic ATF.

I waited so long in fixing my slow leak and wished I had done it earlier. I went on vacation and when I returned, it leaked soo much, the tranny didn't even change gears on its own properly. It was a simple fix with going to nissan and buying the trans pan gasket and fixing it yourself.

Drain the fluid, unbolt, scrape old gasket out, insert new gasket, bolt back in, refill.

I have a question dealing with a possible leaking tranny. My 95 max has 180k miles on it. Its a manual 5-speed and i would like to flush the tranny fluid but i was told by someone that since it has so many miles on it, and i dont know if the fluid has been changed before that i shouldnt due to the fact that i might develope leaks as the old fluid may be blocking possible leakiing points (changing the fluid will flush this out and consequently open the leaks). There are no problems with the tranny, but when its cold the effects of dirty fluid can be noticed when the shifter turns to gooo until it warms up. Any thoughts? Has anyone experienced anything like this before? thanks..

I had to flush mine out and I don't think it was done once before but when I replaced my gasket, the tranny had about 105,000 miles on it. It shifts just how it was before I replaced the gasket now and I'm at about 110,000 miles now.

To the OP, did you ever find out where the leak was coming from? Did you get it fixed?
