Where do you take your fluids?

The Auto Zone by my house recycles used oil but where do you take your ATF, brake fluid, coolant, etc.? I'm thinking about taking it to the closest mechanic and asking them if they can dispose of it properly.

Where do you take yours?

I take mine to autozone, or a local bus garage, the mechanic will likely take it if hes a nice enough guy, i put it in empty plastic kitty litter containers.

I don't differentiate fluids, I mix brake fluid, ATF, engine oil and send it for recycling...

When I lived in San Jose, they had curbside pickup on trash day. That was nice. Since I've been in Vacaville, I've been lazy and paid for oil changes.

I take mine to work and put them in the waste containers there. We have drums for antifreeze and a large tank for waste oil. Brake fluid goes with the oil.

I take all of mine to the local balefill. They accept all types of fluids and anything considered hazardous(paint,pesticides,etc..)but you have to make an appointment as they only do this on Saturdays. You might call yours and see if they have a similar program.

I just pour them all in the gutter near my house that drains into the stream back in the woods. Is that bad?

Seriously, though, I don't do that. No need to when I've never changed my fluids. Still on the original motor oil at 120k miles and no problems so far

By us, oil change stations have to take for free up to 5 gallons of oil from any consumer. Our local recycling centers alos take used oil.
